ManAnew was with the High School students of Hamizak Academy on the 27th of February, 2024. The Foundation’s Founders, Mr Constant and Mrs Faith Ozurumba, were there with other volunteers. The meeting was held to achieve one of the Foundation’s goals: reaching the boys with helpful information on masculinity and gender equality. Following the outline for the meeting, the female students had to join, also.
During the program, which lasted from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, the Founder, Mr Constant Ngozi Ozurumba, introduced the students to different types of masculinity. He stressed that our world needs healthier masculinity and femininity to bring about better development for everyone. After introducing the students to different kinds of masculinity, he condemned the toxic and encouraged positive masculinity.
On gender equality, the students were made to see things differently. The boys who believed they were superior to the female students were made to see things from a more enlightened perspective. Their superiority claims were based on their greater strength. The meeting introduced them to the idea that gender equality is about more than physical strength. It’s beyond who is stronger or weaker. It’s about having equal access to opportunities and respect, regardless of gender.
It was a successful outing. The students and the school’s management were thankful.
